The son of Haradasun has always possessed plenty of ability and his recent effort at Newcastle behind Super provided Damien Lane with some confidence for the grand campaigner prior to the event.
Chamisal was attempting to reverse the second behind Mister Smartee in the Kempsey feature and Ray Spokes took advantage of the improved weight conditions by dashing the John Sprague trained gelding to the lead.
Luke Rolls was content to position Mister Smartee just off the pace while All But Gone was given a safe run by Darryl McLellan at the tail of the field.
Chamisal dictated terms in front and kicked clear from Mister Smartee and Pirate Ben as the field set sail for the judge before All But Gone commenced a move down the outside.
Chamisal tried to lift but was no match for the finishing burst of All But Gone with the Wyong trained gelding's victory taking his record to nine wins and twelve placings over his honest career.
Luminoso was confidently supported to take out the opening event and was able to oust Prince Arli from favouritism with the pair staging an absorbing battle all the way down the home straight.
Chad Lever was able to maneuverer the Lisa Sheppard trained gelding, Prince Arli, to the lead near the line and broke his maiden status in scoring by a narrow margin over Luminoso with the pair breaking away from the rest of the field.
The Lever and Sheppard combination completed a double when Lord John Grey stormed down the outside to claim a decisive victory over Crazeelil and Confessed in a blanket finish to take out the tab.com.au Maiden Handicap.
Victory by the son of Kaphero at his second run from a spell provided Lisa Sheppard with her first ever training double and continued the early season riding success of Chad Lever by taking the prominent hoop to eighteen wins.
The fourth event provided an exciting finish when Innervoice scored for the Ashley Morgan and Jenny Graham combination by a breath over Buckin' Rippa with Only Need Time not beaten far to claim the minor prize.
Henschel led down the home running, but was no match for the finishing burst of Lettre D'Amour when the daughter of Foreplay provided Tara and Phillippe Vigouroux with a deserved victory in the fifth event.
Enigami was the other Vigouroux stable entrant for the program and the evergreen Enemy of Average mare didn't disappoint when Mikayla Weir made a move down the outside to blouse the favourite, Daltoro, in the shadows of the post and complete a race to race double.
An action-packed day of thoroughbred action concluded when Luke Rolls flashed down the outside on the Matthew McCudden trained gelding, Vendome, to claim Whatyoulookingat near the post and score in the Great Northern Class 1 Handicap.
Racing was conducted under relatively fine skies with the warm weather conditions resulting in a good three surface with every horse presented having an even chance of success and providing numerous exciting finishes.
The club greatly appreciates the continued support provided by Prime 7, De Bortoli Wines, Schweppes, Great Northern Brewing Company, Carlton and United Breweries, Tabcorp and John Oxley Motors.
