The winning ticket in Division 1 Lotto was sold at Port Central Newsagency.
The lucky winner, a Port Macquarie woman, who could not believe the news when Lotto phoned to confirm her $1 million good fortune.
"Hang on, are you sure?" she questioned.
"Really? Oh my god. Really?
"I have had a terrible time lately, so you can't imagine what this means to me.
"Fair dinkum! I can't believe this.
"A millionaire? My god, what fantastic news.
"This is a beautiful surprise. This feels so surreal."
When asked how she planned to enjoy her million-dollar windfall, the elated winner said she had a few ideas.
"I want to share my prize with my family," she said.
"I will spoil myself and my husband. We might go on a little shopping spree.
"We will get a new car too and probably go on a holiday sometime next year."
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 10-game QuickPick entry from Port Central Newsagency.
Manager Cobie Tompsett said she couldn't be happier for the winner.
"2020 has been a hard year for everyone and we are so excited that one of our customers will wake up $1 million richer just in time for Christmas," she said.
"We will be ready to party and celebrate. Our whole team is over the moon that we sold a million-dollar ticket.
"All of our customers will be so excited.
"The last big division one prize we sold was in 2011, so we've been waiting for another winner.
"We have sold a few other major prizes in the last 12 years.
"We would like to send a big congratulations to our winner. We hope this makes your 2021 bigger and brighter.
"We would also like to thank them and all of our other customers who have supported our outlet for the past 12 years."
