On Thursday, October 15, a 68-year-old man and 27-year-old man from Laurieton were both allegedly captured on surveillance cameras travelling in an unregistered boat and interfering with a commercial fisher's trap on the Camden Haven river.
On Wednesday, November 4, Mid North Coast Rural Crime Prevention Team investigators attended a Laurieton address where both men were interviewed.
As a result of inquiries the 68-year-old man was issued penalty notices for operating an unregistered vehicle and interfere with set fishing gear without reasonable excuse. Fines totalled $700.
The 27-year-old man was issued penalty notices for recreational fisher fails to pay fishing fee (licence) and interfere with set fishing gear without reasonable excuse. Fines totalled $400,
Police have urged members of the public with information relating to similar offences being committed on the waterways near them, or any other rural crime offences, to contact their local police station or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
