Proceeds from the book sale fundraiser will go back into the community.

The club raised $15,800 from the event.

An estimated 2500 people, including many visitors to Port Macquarie, supported the club's Spring Book Sale from October 3 to 11.

Rotary Club of Port Macquarie book sale coordinator Bob Cleland said the book sale fundraiser provided the opportunity to continue with the programs of support given the usual fundraising activities were unavailable due to COVID-19.

Money raised from the event will go towards the funding of ongoing programs including at schools and the continued support of Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse.

The club will make a contribution to Lifeline as well as multiple youth support programs such as the leadership program, RYLA.

More than 20,000 donated books were on offer at the sale after the club accumulated a massive stock of books following the cancellation of the Annual Giant Book Sale in March due to the coronavirus restrictions.

There was a COVID-19 safety plan in place during the Spring Book Sale.

The first two days, along with the final day, were the busiest days of the sale with book lovers keen to find bargains.

Mr Cleland said a shop site at Bay Park Plaza was a great spot for the sale, with the use of the shop generously donated.
