About 3.45pm on September 25, an 8-year-old girl was riding her bike after school along Marine Drive, Wallabi Point, near Taree, when a silver coloured car pulled up beside her.
Police have been told the male driver asked the girl to get in the car. She refused and rode away. The man got out of his car and followed her on foot for a short distance, before returning to his car and driving away.
The incident was reported to officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District who commenced an investigation.
As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being aged in his 20's, thin build and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black hoodie with hood drawn tightly around his head, shorts and white shoes. Of note he was wearing a silver bracelet and a black bracelet on his wrist.
He was driving a small silver hatchback, described as a Holden Astra or similar model.
Police inquiries are continuing.
