A MAN has died and two others were rescued from a capsized boat in what has been a tragic start to the school holidays in Port Macquarie.
At noon on Friday (September 25), Marine Rescue Port Macquarie were received an urgent callout to assist a capsized boat in the Hastings River, with reports of an unconscious person in the water.
PM20 and rescue water craft PM10 and PM11 responded and were on scene in less than 20 minutes.
Two fisherman were found in the water with another man unresponsive, a Marine Rescue spokesperson said.
With assistance from a local boat, the men were helped to shore.
NSW Paramedics performed CPR but unfortunately one man could not be revived.
PM20 retrieved the vessel and returned it to the Marine Rescue Port Macquarie boatshed.
