Group Three JRL chairman Warren Blissett said the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic has generally been a success. He said some clubs were disappointed with the semi-final format, where the team finishing first played the fourth placed team, while second met third.
The winners progressed to the grand final, with the losers dropping out. Sides finishing first or second didn't get a second chance, as is usually the case.
"There were a few grumbles, but I expected that,'' he said.
Mr Blissett said previously the finals format would be reduced to allow more games in the season-proper. The group also wanted the season to be finished before the October long weekend.
Some Group Two clubs played in the under 16 and 18 competitions by invitation. Mr Blissett said the sides would return to Group Two next year.
