The Community Hair Project delivered just that in Port Macquarie on September 21 from Evelina Kemp's hair studio in William Street.
Haircuts for 10 women receiving support from the Liberty Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Service were delivered through the project which is now operating in 70 locations across the country since its inception.
Liberty Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Services CEO Kelly Lamb said the Community Hair Project initiative was a welcome opportunity for clients who have experienced domestic violence.
"Being able to take some time out to relax at the hairdresser is something many of us take for granted," Mrs Lamb said.
"For women who are focused on ensuring the safety of themselves and their family, self-care can often be overlooked. However, we know this is an important element during a woman's journey to be empowered to live a life free from violence.
"We're very grateful to the Community Hair Project and Evelina Kemp Hair and Beauty for offering this generous opportunity to the local women we work with."
Project founder Christine Mastello thanked Evelina for her ongoing support and the Bandwagon cafe for providing coffee on the day.
"The best thing about all of this is that we can make a person so happy," Christine said.
"We do so little but it can make life feel so good for someone."
Evelina offers hair care on Sundays for those doing it tough and also delivers the Community Hair Project service through the Anglican Soup Kitchen.
