Association members met onsite with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council staff on Friday, September 11.
That meeting resolved to continue with communication and begin preliminary drawings to define boundary lines.
The council-owned land features eight individual lots at the rear of the site as well as a lot fronting Shoreline Drive.
Council has owned the land since the mid-1980s.
Association president Kingsley Searle described the meeting as "productive".
"Essentially we met with council to work out how we can go ahead with our plans for Kangaroo Park," he said.
"This area is synonymous with North Shore: it's where we met for Halloween and other community events - it's our open hall.
"From a community perspective, it is important that we maintain this area for our use."

Planning to enhance the area will include low plantings to define the boundary.
The park will also be used in emergency situations and at other critical times.
Mr Searle said the area would not be designated for picnics or other similar activities.
"Council has been fantastic and is right onboard with our plans," he said.
"Association member Carla McKern is currently working on some of the preliminary designs for native trees and associated low plantings."
Meanwhile the association is also continuing to push forward plans for electronic signage at each ferry to provide community updates on emergency situations.
