The land will accommodate the future construction of a full length parallel taxiway.
Councillors agreed to put the application in motion at the August meeting.
The Port Macquarie Airport Master Plan 2010 report identifies the future provision of a parallel taxiway at the airport to improve operational efficiency and enhance safety.
The parallel taxiway has been planned and designed, to concept stage, east of runway 03/21.
An additional two hectares of land has been identified as being required in the south eastern area of the existing airport site to enable the future construction of a full length taxiway to the southern end of the runway.
This land and the associated vegetation clearing required for the future taxiway is included in the Port Macquarie Airport and surrounding lands Biodiversity Certification Agreement.
Council has consulted with HRSC and there is no objection to the proposal which will have no impact on the operations of the shooting ranges.
Council will now make an application for compulsory land acquisition to the Minister for Local Government and to Her Excellency the Governor of New South Wales.
The Local Government Act 1993 requires that council land be classified prior to making a land classification and exhibited for public feedback.
