Just after midday on Saturday (August 29), a 51-year-old man was bushwalking in a remote area at Seal Rocks, south of Forster, when he was bitten by a death adder.
Due to the remoteness of the walking trail, the man had to walk for 20 minutes to the vicinity of the Treachery campground to obtain suitable phone reception to contact emergency services.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by Ambulance NSW to the incident.
Two paramedic crews attended and treated the man for nausea and dizziness.
Paramedics treated the man's wound prior to the arrival of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and its Critical Care Medical Team.
The man was stabilised and then flown direct to the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle in a stable condition for further treatment.
