Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie Campus student Keanu Bowman, under the stage name Keanu Jai, has released his debut single Stuck on You.
The track, which is available on all major platforms including Spotify and iTunes, is number nine on the regional charts through community radio initiative Australian Regional Airplay Project.
"I'm really happy and surprised with the response so far," Keanu said.
"I've had a lot of support from everyone."
Stuck on You is about Keanu's musical journey and wanting to achieve his goals.
It is one of the tracks on Keanu's debut EP, Home, recorded with producer/engineer Hamish McDonald.
"I decided to release this one [Stuck on You] first because I think it defines me best as an artist, both musically and lyrically," he said.
Keanu said he really enjoyed writing good lyrics.
His musical influences include John Mayer, Jack Johnson and Australian bands Sticky Fingers and Lime Cordiale.
"Music is my passion and I think if I could live comfortably off playing music, writing music and performing music that would be my bottom line goal," he said.
Keanu started piano lessons at age eight and singing lessons a year later.
He picked up the guitar after moving to Port Macquarie in 2017.
Home is the culmination of 18 months' work with the EP's tracks being progressively released.
Keanu has entered three songs in Triple J Unearthed High, which looks for the country's best high school act.
