Kathy Dibbs is a Lighthouse Road resident and said she's worried a fatality will soon occur if Port Macquarie-Hastings Council does not start the process for works.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has previously stated the road does not have a significant crash history.
However Mrs Dibbs disagrees with council's view and said the road has averaged at least one accident each year for the past six years.
The upgrade of Lighthouse Road (west) is currently in council's forward plan, however is subject to funding being approved and a review of the 2022-25 Delivery Program.
Council's current plan is to undertake a design review, complete environmental approvals in 2025 and for construction to begin in 2027/28.
However, consideration of applying for the required funding to upgrade Lighthouse Road would need to be weighed up against other road projects.
Mr Dibbs said the upgrade might come too late because in the meantime a number of serious accidents could occur.
Mrs Dibbs has been in regular contact with council and is hoping a meeting with a group manager will speed up any plans for an upgrade.
Over 100 people signed the online petition as of August 12.
People posted their reasons for signing the petition, with many stating they felt unsafe walking and driving along the road due to its narrow and windy nature.
