This is on par with last year.
Main race will be the 2000 metre Stacks The Law Firm Taree Gold Cup. As was the case in 2019, the cup will carry $100,000 in prizemoney.
The Taree Keya Manning Lightning will be the second feature. This 1000 metre sprint has prizemoney of $35,000.
The carnival opens on Friday August 21 where the $32,000 Hopkins-Livermore Cup will be the main event. This is named in memory of two of Mid Coast Racing's greatest workers, Don Hopkins and Ike Livermore.
Race club chairman Greg Coleman expects strong fields for the two days of the carnival.
Last year's cup was won by the Chris Waller-trained Hogmanay, the 4.20 favourite. This was Waller's first success in the Taree Cup.
Tommy Berry had the sit on the winner, Times racing journalist writing the Berry produced a 'peach of a ride' on Hogmanay.
This was his only ride on the day and this was also his first win in the Taree Cup.
