She was born in Orange in 1920 as the eldest of six children.
Dorothy's family eventually moved to West Ryde in Sydney, and on her 14th birthday, she left school and gained full-time work as a factory hand at Bergers Paint.
She continued to work there until she married her late husband Sidney in 1942.
In 1944 and 1945, their daughters Elaine and Joy were born.
Dorothy returned to Bergers Paint after raising her two children and worked in the canteen.
Her family has grown to five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and is expecting her first great-great-grandchild any day.
Dorothy has called Port Macquarie home for the past 14 years, living with her daughter until 2019.
She now lives at Sienna Grange Aged Care where she spends her days knitting, taking walks around the village, playing bingo and watching The Bold and the Beautiful and Home and Away.
COVID-19 has changed the way they can celebrate the milestone, however, they are still looking forward to a 100th birthday party to cherish forever.
