The adjusted fare prices, announced by the state government in early 2018, followed an Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal review.
Busways operations regional support manager - lower Mid North Coast Mark Lawrence said there had been some increase in patronage since then.
"Fares are very affordable when you compare them with the running cost of a motor vehicle," he said.
Mr Lawrence said passenger numbers in 2020 may not be a true reflection of the norm due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stickers indicate where bus passengers should sit to allow for social distancing and barriers provide driver protection in response to the pandemic.
Mr Lawrence said the buses were thoroughly disinfected and cleansed at least twice a day.
The community can look forward to additional and extended bus services, with 70 extra services each week, from Sunday, July 19.
Consultation was vital to the network changes.
Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams announced the new timetable.
The improvements include an extension of bus services along The Ruins Way and The Point Drive in Port Macquarie, as well as additional services between Port Macquarie and Kendall, and Port Macquarie and Wauchope.
Mr Lawrence said the additional and extended services would result in more hours for some Busways employees.
Passengers can also expect more accessible low-floor buses as part of the Port Macquarie bus fleet in the future, while school buses are moving towards having seat belts.
Mr Lawrence said future bus connections into growth areas would be driven by consultation with the state government, Transport for NSW and the community raising the matter with their state member or Transport for NSW.
Transport for NSW continues to work closely with stakeholders on a range of transport planning measures from improvements to public transport services and walking and cycling connections to better accessibility at Wauchope station.
