It comes after an emergency telephone hook-up between the Mid North Coast Rugby committee, the Vikings, Coffs Harbour Snappers and Southern Cross University last night.
Discussion surrounding a potential amalgamation with the Lower Mid North Coast competition was squashed, leaving the Vikings to ask their players at training tonight what the season holds.
Mid North Coast executive officer Bob Wilson said it wasn't feasible to have a joint competition.
"There would have been some cricket scores and that's not fair on those teams," he said.
"With all due respect to those clubs, one competition is a village competition while the other is a proper first grade competition."
Vikings president David Barnes was disappointed his club would have the final say after the committee called an emergency club meeting.
"The zone needed to make a decision themselves once Pirates pulled out because we were always happy with a four-team competition," he said.
"But a three-team competition is not appetising for the players, it's not appetising for coaches and it's late in the season already.
"You'll almost have as many byes as you'll play games."
Barnes said the club had the player numbers, but it was whether they would be committed to travelling to Coffs Harbour two times in three weeks.
"We've got to make a tough decision this afternoon about whether it's feasible for the club and if we'll have the same committed players that are committed to a three-team competition," he said.
