Parkruns are off, gyms are closed and outdoor exercise equipment has been off limits.
Like many local businesses, it has been an opportunity for the fitness industry to take a closer look at strategies to get people off the lounge and lunging instead.
Gavin Wilcox from Your Life Fitness Centre has used the time in lockdown to look at how to make exercising and staying fit more appealing.
He has created an online training group to fill a gap while the gym is shutdown as well as to keep his clients connected.
Gavin soon discovered there was a broader interest in the community to explore health and fitness options.
"We offered all of our classes online to our members but there proved to be a demand for them so we opened them up to the whole community to use for free," Gavin said.
"We really had to make the most of a terrible situation but there has been some good come out of it.
"We found that people who would not go to a gym in a million years, are being encouraged by a family member at home to give an online class a go. They may or may not decide to join a gym but being in the comfort of their own home for some people has created a space for them to try something different."
Gavin is eagerly awaiting news about the next stage of restriction rollbacks, when gyms and fitness centres will be back on deck and in what capacity.
Many of the gyms across the Hastings are maintaining contact with clients including World Gym Port Macquarie which has created its own online community for members as a way to "stay connected, to motivate each other, stay active and promote positive mental health".
Most gyms have suspended memberships until they are permitted to re-open their doors.
Outdoor bootcamps were permitted to return last week and playgrounds re-opened across the Hastings.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Wednesday, May 20 announced recreational regional travel within the state will be allowed again from June 1 when libraries, art galleries, and museums will also re-open.
Public school students are set to return to fulltime classes on Monday, May 25.
