The jetty foundation pylons are in and dredging to allow for larger boats to moor next to the wharf and berthing area is complete.

Erosion protection work is now underway on the rock revetment wall which runs alongside the harbour.

The commercial wharf is a $4 million project that will revitalise an important stretch of the coastal linkages between Westport Park and the beaches.

It replaces the old Hastings River Fishermen's Co-operative and will include a new fishermen's wharf, an unloading jetty, two new large mooring berths, an extension of the boardwalk along Kooloonbung Creek and the realignment of the existing rock revetment.

Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams said the project will provide a significant improvement to Port Macquarie's coastal infrastructure.

The boardwalk extension will improve connections to retail, tourism and hospitality businesses along the Hastings River in the Settlement City area and provide an addition to the popular nine kilometre Port Macquarie coastal walk.

The project is due for completion in the latter half of the year.

GPM Constructions is completing the works.

The Department of Industry - Lands awarded the construction contract to the Roseville-based marine contractor after a tender process.

It is an important part of Port Macquarie-Hasting Council's foreshore masterplan.

The next vital link between the popular Coastal Walk and Port Macquarie's CBD will also see a major upgrade of the Town Green west foreshore and playground.

Work to the tune of $2 million is expected to start in July and will be by the Town Centre Masterplan Committee (through contributions levied on commercial property owners within the Port Macquarie CBD) and the Federal Government through a Community Development Grant.

Detailed designs are being completed with the upgrade to replicate the aesthetic elements of Town Green east works from five metre wide foreshore promenade shared path extension from Lady Nelson Wharf to Short St; upgrading of the foreshore rock revetment wall; new LED lighting; feature pavement nodes; new seating, bins, table settings and drinking fountain; and installation of new turf and irrigation.
