However, FMNC chairman Mike Parsons stressed any decision would be subject to approval from the State and federal governments regarding social distancing requirements and other COVID-19 restrictions.

"It's all very fluid at the moment,'' Mr Parsons said.

He said FMNC will contact all clubs to determine team numbers so draws can be put in place. This would be at senior and junior level.

However, Mr Parsons revealed it is planned to play the Coastal Premier League (CPL) over two rounds, with a grand final in late October or early November. Nine clubs - five from North Coast Football and four from Football Mid North Coast, have nominated to play in the CPL in first and reserve grade. This is the competition's debut season.

"We've contacted the clubs and they're willing to play a two round season,'' Mr Parsons said.

"We have the ground space and we can play games under lights if we must on Fridays or as double headers. We could also look at playing matches on Sundays.''

He said Football Mid North Coast has been in constant contact with North Coast Football on the matter.

The four FMNC clubs involved in the CPL are all from the Hastings/Macleay areas.

Football Mid North Coast also planned to kick off a one grade Zone Premier League (ZPL) this year. This would involved former Mid North Coast Premier League clubs Taree, Wallis Lake, Tuncurry-Forster, Wauchope and Camden Haven along with Southern and Northern League clubs Wingham and Port United.

Mr Parsons said the ZPL would be played over 10 to 12 weeks and won't extend into October. He said this would apply to all the other FMNC competitions.

"We share a number of our grounds with summer sports and we don't want to encroach on their seasons,'' he explained.

"Cricket had a shortened season last summer because of the drought, bushfires, rain and then the coronavirus. We want to give them their fair dues so they can planning for next season.

"What we're all trying to do is get people back out playing sport.''

Mr Parsons said FMNC is awaiting word from Northern NSW Football as to when the National Premier League (NPL) and Women's Premier League (WPL) would resume. These competitions started in early March before the coronavirus lockdown.

He hopes to have some confirmation by the end of this week.
