Benjamin John Black, of Oceanview Terrace will now front the Supreme Court in Port Macquarie over the alleged murder of Jacob John King.
Black's matter was originally set down for trial in Sydney on March 23 before it was pushed back to April 3 due to the impacts of COVID-19.
Black has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter. The Crown did not accept the plea.
Three weeks had been set aside for the trial.
He is accused of murdering King at Port Macquarie on May 4, 2018.
The incident allegedly occurred at a premises in the vicinity of Rushcutter Way and Beacon Court, Port Macquarie where the victim was stabbed and died as a result of his injuries.
Black will face the Supreme Court in Port Macquarie on February 1, 2021.
