The event was originally planned to be held at the Glasshouse in July this year but has been rescheduled for June in 2021 after health restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Guests speakers included STEM leader Felicity Furey, robotics surgeon Munjed Al Muderis, farmer turned disaster recovery expert Sam Johnson and South African conservation wildlife warrior Hunter Mitchell.
Hastings Secondary College teacher Lloyd Godson was also announced as a speaker at during a Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce breakfast launch on March 12.
Co-founder and Luminosity chair Kate Wood-Foye said the decision to cancel was wisely made early before government restrictions on mass gatherings.
"It has been put off until the June 9 to 11 next year. It was an incredibly difficult decision but we made it early because the health of our young leaders is hugely important to us," she said.
"There was going to be 600 young people in a room, let alone the organising crew and Glasshouse staff (so the risk was too great).
"We're completely devastated to have to put it off but we certainly have to wait a little while longer to make sure everyone is safe."
The event usually attracts over 2500 young people and was announced to have the theme, 'Amplify Your Impact' in its eighth edition this year.
"Being a totally not-for-profit event with a volunteer crew for eight years, we obviously wanted to be completely responsible," Mrs Wood-Foye said.
"As it's turned out there will be no large events in the next three months so it reinforces the early decision as the right one.
"We have been in contact with each of our speakers and some of them are international, who would not have been able to travel anyway. They have been supportive of our decision.
"We will still be announcing two huge speakers for next year's event.
"I'd just like to thank our school community, businesses and the young leaders themselves. We promise them that next year will be bigger and better, and they will be able to get their Luminosity fix."
