Rollands Plains Community Group representative Ray Griffiths addressed Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's March 18 meeting.

Mr Griffiths said the group was pleased to publicly thank the council and its staff for the very welcome and positive developments the council has and is undertaking in our area.

There is a $450,000 allocation in the council's draft 2020/21 operational plan for the investigation and concept design for the potential sealing of Bril Bril Road.

The draft operational plan is on public exhibition until April 17.

"The very pleasing and downright fantastic developments that are moving in a positive direction for Bril Bril Road has the residents of Rollands Plains jumping for joy," Mr Griffiths said.

"Added to this pleasing result is the installation of two metre flood depth signs for the creek crossings in Clarefield Dungay Creek Road - (long awaited) but most satisfactory."

Mr Griffiths said the community group was also anticipating the planning and costing of the raising of two creek crossings on Clarefield Dungay Creek Road.

"Now the rain has returned these have become an ever-present hazard for over 50 residents in Marlo Merrican," he said.

Marlo Merrican is just over 40 kilometres north-west of Port Macquarie.

The community has long been campaigning for improvements to rural roads in the Rollands Plains area for safety reasons.

"As the Mid-North Coast faced the recent bush fire crisis, the community of Rollands Plains, like many others, banded together and supported each other as well as the wonderful firefighters sent to our area," Mr Griffiths said.

"We are now, along with the Recreational Reserve Trust, working to secure funds to establish a more substantial evacuation centre."

He said that was just another example of the positive work being undertaken by Rollands Plains residents.

"We are indeed looking forward to a positive working future with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and its staff," Mr Griffiths said.
