Funerals can be attended by a maximum of 10 people as one of the new measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

"Council understands the difficulty the restriction will impose on families, however we all have a shared responsibility to comply with the Australian Government's public health measures including social distancing to help slow the spread of COVID-19," Mr Grummitt said.

The one person per four square metre rule also applies at funerals.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council owns Innes Gardens Memorial Park Crematorium and Lawn Cemetery pending finalisation of the sale process.

Hastings District Funeral and Cremation Service area manager Brian Hutchison confirmed they would abide by the federal government's restrictions.

"We will try to minimise our staff being there [at funerals] so people can bring more of their families [to attend]," Mr Hutchison said.

Hastings District Funeral and Cremation Service can organise live streaming of services from its Gordon Street chapel and the Innes Gardens chapel.

Services can also be recorded for families at its Gordon Street chapel.
