I am likely to be at odds with you on this matter but as you have stated before that is why we are still a democracy. The crown bushfires in November in Pappinbarra are not the first. Koalas have been surviving bushfires for millions of years.
Please explain to me the financial repercussions if the koala is promoted from vulnerable to endangered.
The koala hospital at Port Macquarie and other koala foundations have fared a lot better than the human victims of the recent bushfires.
The government should be more concerned about the correct distribution and accountability of all the money donated in good faith to koala foundations and this money should be accessed and used to fund koala survival and habitat before knocking on the door of the NSW Government for more funding.
Personally I survived the firestorm at Pappinbarra on our farm and saved our house and out buildings. I have since sat on our front verandah and heard the koalas mating in the trees across the creek in the evening. Yes they are still there.
Please convince me this proposal is in the interests of the koala and not just another grab to line the pockets of the already well-funded koala foundations.
