The Lake Cathie Community Plan and Telegraph Point and Surrounds Community Plan were endorsed by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council at its March 18 meeting.
The plans are a collaborative effort with the council and community.
The focus now goes to turning the actions into reality with the council and the community working together to achieve each community's visions.
Stewart Cooper, who spoke in support of the Lake Cathie Community Plan's endorsement, acknowledged the efforts of the council staff involved.
"Now it is up to council and councillors to put a realistic implementation plan and timeline together," he said.
Mr Cooper hopes the plan will be used constructively to assist the rapidly growing community.
He said some of the included actions could not be carried out by council but they were looking for the council to assist and advocate on behalf of the community.
Mr Cooper cited the need for a police and ambulance presence in Lake Cathie as an example.
"The action in the plan is an Emergency Operations Centre which could be used to provide a lower cost presence for all of the services rather than individual buildings," he said.
Mr Cooper said while many of the plan's items relied on funding, there were other much smaller items which could be implemented quickly and maintained.
Sue Pike addressed the council meeting in support of the Telegraph Point and Surrounds Community Plan's endorsement.
She said Telegraph Point has a thriving primary school, day care centre/preschool, sports oval, post office, service station/ general store, two timber mills, two mechanical workshops, smash repairer, function centre, aqua park, sports and recreation club and the local pub.
There are various bed and breakfast businesses dotted around the village and farms, while the community is diverse.
Ms Pike described the process of developing the plan with the council as very customer-focused.
She said they have some very big ideas for beautifying the village and its surrounding areas, with the valued assistance of the council.
"Helping villages like Telegraph Point develop in a positive way can only benefit the general environment of the Hastings Valley and its people," Ms Pike said.
"We want to make Telegraph Point a destination - a place people want to visit and live in and we look forward to the continued support of council now and into the future."
The council noted the goals and actions identified for each of the communities, as outlined in the community plans, for consideration in future operational plans.
Council's acting general manager Jeffery Sharp said the council intended to have a partnership with the community and others to drive the actions in the community plans.
