Weatherzone meteorologist Graeme Brittain said the station at Port Macquarie Airport collected 52mm over the weekend, with 35mm collected in the 24 hours up to Sunday, March 15.
Another 17mm was recorded for the 24 hours to 9am on Monday, March 16.
The total average rainfall for March, according to long term records is 177mm.
Mr Brittain said to date March has seen 119mm fall according to the airport station, which is equivalent to 67 per cent of the total average rainfall for the month.
"Considering we're just over halfway through the month, the data is showing that it's moving in the right direction," he said.
Further showers are forecast over the next couple of days, where 20mm is expected to fall in coastal parts of Mid North Coast. A similar outlook is predicted for the inland ranges of the region.
Mr Brittain said there will be a short dry spell for the days leading up to the weekend.
However, more rain is predicted to fall on Saturday and Sunday.
The month of March for 2020 has already exceeded the total amount which was received for the month in 2019, which saw just 93mm recorded.
Meanwhile March 2020 has a bit of catching up to do for the same month in 2018 , where 329mm fell.
