Mr Roberts served as a councillor from 2012 to 2016 including a stint as deputy mayor.
Four years on, the business owner wants to make a councillor comeback to support mayor Peta Pinson.
Voters will go to the polls in September to decide Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's elected representatives for the next four years.
Asked whether he would run on a ticket, Mr Roberts said it was not a decision he would need to make until closer to the election but it was likely.
Mr Roberts said it was not his intention to run for mayor, and while he wouldn't rule it out, his focus was on supporting the current mayor.
His priorities are traffic congestion, water security infrastructure, vegetation risk management and the local economy.
"I don't think people understand vegetation risk management until they experience something like the bushfires coming to the back doorstep of multiple new housing estates," he said.
He also has concerns about the proximity of wildlife corridors to housing estates.
When it comes to traffic congestion, Mr Roberts believes the orbital road planning was not well thought through and the council needs to start planning for other link roads.
All orbital road options are in play as a strategic business case is developed.
Meanwhile, Mr Roberts said he would like to see a long term-plan to continue to build water infrastructure in addition to upgrading pumping facilities.
"I commend them for starting the process but I wonder why they haven't been doing it [water security work] for seven years," he said.
An upgrade of the Wauchope Water Treatment Plant to allow for increased river extraction was outlined at the February council meeting as part of a host of measures to address water security.
Meanwhile, Mr Roberts said he had been a member of the National Party on and off for about 12 years but he was not currently a member.
