The College hosted the day to raise more than $1600 in funding to be split between the McGrath Foundation and the Parish Bushfire Recovery Fund.

Students were encouraged to wear pink for breast cancer awareness while attempting to gain Guts, Resilience, Initiative and Team (GRIT) points for their school groups by completing challenges.

Principal Mark Nunan said the event is important for a welcoming community environment at the College.

"We have had over 200 students come in brand new this year and this is one of the few opportunities we have to build community," he said.

"It's not just about students developing workplace skills, it's about helping young people appreciate contributing to and being part of your local community.

"Today is not about how much money they raise. It's about getting them thinking about someone else who is doing it tough."

Mr Nunan said it's really important to transition students out of their school-based education with an understanding of contributing to the community.

Five Canterbury Bulldogs players and members of the development team also attended the school on the same day to give advice to students.

"Rugby league is a big focus area for us and as the Bulldogs players have told them, it's important that students have two plans," said Mr Nunan.

"There is always a backup plan ready if someone doesn't make it as a professional athlete."
