Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams was part of the opening event to celebrate the 2020 NSW Seniors Festival.

The exhibition features artworks by Port Macquarie U3A textile, fibre and acrylic artists, and artworks by senior clients of Lisa Hort, Creative Ageing Practitioner. Over forty people attended the launch.

Museum volunteer curator Debbie Sommers said the narrative for this exhibition was to think Outside the Frame with the artists asked to create something without the constraints of barriers or borders.

She said the Port Macquarie Museum has a long-association with the NSW Seniors Festival.

"With most of our 60 volunteers being seniors, we understand and value the important role that seniors have in our wider community and at our museum," Ms Sommer said.

"Supporting older residents to live, work, play, celebrate and engage socially and meaningfully with the whole community underpins what we do."

The Out of the Frame exhibition is supported by a NSW Seniors Festival Grant from the NSW government.

The exhibition continues until March 31.

Museum admission fees apply, with free entry for seniors during the NSW Seniors Festival until Saturday February 22.

The Port Macquarie Museum is located at 22 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie, within Port Macquarie's cultural precinct.
