Dying to Meet You by Roy Hutson will be performed at Beechwood Hall on various dates in February. It was postponed from November because of the bushfires.
In this hilarious play, Richard and his wife Barbara accidentally offer the same room as lodgings to a young undertaker and a young woman who has the mafia after her.
Confusion, panic, cross dressing and many misunderstandings abound, and things are not helped when an Italian gentleman turns up with a violin case.
Director Darren Rowley summed up the play in one sentence.
"What could possibly go wrong when a bashful undertaker moves into the same house as a gorgeous Mafia refugee with her uncle chasing her?
"It's all about a middle-aged couple. Their children have left home, the father misses the rent money, the mother misses the kids and they take in lodgers. The husband gets the undertaker but doesn't tell his wife what his job is, the wife gets the girl in, and they find out that the uncle is looking for her and they all think he is a Mafia boss.
"Shenanigans happen from there. It's like a Carry On film. It's an English comedy with a local cast from the Pappinbarra Players. It's a little bit naughty, so we welcome teenagers and adults. Please come along and support your local drama group. We have fun, and I'm sure you will as well," he said.
Dying to Meet You is at Beechwood Hall on Friday February 14 at 7pm, Sunday February 16 (matinee) at 1.30pm, Friday February 21 at 7pm and Saturday February 22 at 7pm.
Tickets cost $20, $15 concession and are available at Eco Wild at High Street in Wauchope or from the Beechwood Post Office, or at the door.
