Social media was abuzz over the weekend with suggestions the tournament was cancelled already, but Russell said that wasn't the case.

"At this point in time it's still going ahead," he said.

Conditions will be monitored throughout the week and NSWTA staff are set to meet with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and ground staff when they arrive in Port Macquarie.

More rain is forecast for the end of the week, but it is unlikely to be the same deluge which hit the Hastings in the early hours of Sunday morning when more than 140mm fell in a few hours.

"With the rain they had at the weekend, I can understand why people might have initial concerns," Russell said.

"But we have spoken to the groundsman and the localised flooding has receded; it was on the basis of 140mm in one hit."

Russell returned to Sydney on Sunday evening following a weekend away to numerous text messages and missed calls from concerned parents.

But it is all systems go.

"We've been told that 90 per cent of the water has gone, but it may have an impact on field availability and logistics where we may have to take fields out of play for safety."

While other events around the North Coast were cancelled following the weekend's wet weather, the general manager said they would continue to monitor the situation.

"Yes, there is rain predicted for the rest of the week, but the level isn't anywhere near what it was at the weekend," he said.

"As one of my staff said... it's not our first rodeo and we've had experiences where we've had to deal with wet weather, with high heat and with smoke."

A variety of alternative options are available to tournament organisers should rain play a part over the weekend.

"The first thing we need to consider are fields and whether they are safe to participate on which dictates the structure of what can and can't happen," Russell said.
