Mid North Coast Veterans Cricket secretary Kevin Pike said players were impressed with all facilities around the Hastings, although special mention was saved for the venues in Port Macquarie.
"They spoke of the wicket and outfield at Wayne Richards Park which some of them said is one of the best wickets they have ever played on," Pike said.
"They also enjoyed using the facilities at the picturesque Oxley Oval which will be even grander next year when the new clubhouse is completed."
Pike was hopeful the success of the over-70 titles would be the first step in challenging other areas around the country for hosting rights to over-50 and over-60 carnivals in future years.
"Events like this will hopefully encourage council to look at a second turf wicket at Wayne Richards Park and the facility out at Wauchope," he said.
While a date for next year's carnival is yet to be locked in, Pike said it would be closer to the end of the cricket season.
"Next year we will hold it a little later in the season when it isn't quite so hot - probably around mid-March," he said.
"We have already had five enquiries from cricketers who are looking for a game again after playing their first one in many years."
