Students have enjoyed a splashing start to the school year with the Hastings Secondary College annual swimming carnival held on February 5.

Swimmers were sorted into Towns, Flynns, Shelley and Lighthouse houses for the competition at Port Macquarie Swimming Pool.
Events included traditional competitions such as breaststroke and freestyle, as well as modern novelty and belly-flop tournaments.
Houses were managed by campus house captains and teachers, who coordinated their own dance routines and chants.
Year 12 student Nick Welch, won a 50 metre freestyle over 17s race on the day said every student is involved and it's great fun.
"These carnivals are so fun, it brings the school together so much," he said.
"Normally you do see each year group sticking together but when it comes to a whole school carnival everyone interacts with each other. It brings a different spirit to the school.
"We're all busy at school with the HSC and year 12 but it's just great seeing people relaxing and taking the stress off for the day.
"I'm a breaststroker even though I did my shoulder nearly two years ago. I don't swim as much anymore but I still think it's fun."
