The Mid North Coast Ford Owners Club hosted their All Ford Day at Westport Park in Port Macquarie in November 2019, and raised an impressive $2,500 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service's Hastings Support Group.
The event attracted car enthusiasts from across New South Wales, from Tamworth, Inverell, Coffs Harbour, the far North Coast, Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.
Annette Magennis from the club said many of the 125 vehicles that were on show were over 30 years old.
"Many of these vehicles are daily drivers and there were, of course, those cars which only come out on special Show N Shine days such as this event," she said.
Miss Dale of Velvet-Rose's Pin Up Dressing Room donated entry fees of $35 for the pin up competition.
There was also a collection on the day of non-perishable items for farmers in drought to support the efforts by Wauchope Rural Centre who collected items for distribution to farmers in need, as well as recent fire victims. The Mid North Coast Ford Owners Club also donated $500 to this worthy cause.
Accepting the $2,500 cheque from car club members at Wauchope's Rocks Ferry Reserve, Bruce Cant of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Hastings Support Group said it was a very welcome start to the year.
"We are over the moon with the money and on the day, we raised $800 with a barbecue. That money goes to the rescue helicopter and helps keep it in the air and do what it does best - save lives. We are indebted to the Ford car club," said Mr Cant.
Club president Eddie Clarke said that the weather was bad on the day with ferocious winds and also the fact that the bushfires down Forster and Taree way affected their numbers but they were delighted with the total.
"I'd like to thank the committee members for all their help to make it such a good day," he added.
