The Country Women's Association advance the rights of women, families and communities across Australia, and locally, they are reaching out to people affected by bushfires and drought.
Last Saturday, Sonia Bowers from Wauchope CWA and other volunteers held out buckets at the donut between Port Macquarie and Wauchope collecting for the CWA drought and fire appeal.
"The response has been fantastic," said Sonia.
Delma Robson, group president from the Mid North Coast, said the CWA has already paid out an impressive $15.5m to drought-stricken farming families across Australia over the past year or so.
"We thank everyone who donates and wish them happy travelling. It's amazing the number of people thanking us for collecting so we've been thrilled both ways."
