Last Saturday, Sonia Bowers from Wauchope CWA and other volunteers held out buckets at the donut between Port Macquarie and Wauchope collecting for the CWA drought and fire appeal.
"The response has been fantastic," said Sonia.
Delma Robson, group president from the Mid North Coast, said the CWA has already paid out an impressive $15.5m to drought-stricken farming families across Australia over the past year or so.
"That fund is a bit reduced now, and we're collecting more to help the farming families, but also families affected by fires can apply for assistance from the CWA. Go to www.cwansw.org.au and ask for a certain amount of money and explain why they want it," she said.
"We thank everyone who donates and wish them happy travelling. It's amazing the number of people thanking us for collecting so we've been thrilled both ways."
