Internationally renowned songwriter, a performer and a visual artist Sonia Rutstein is making a stand in Wauchope this weekend.

Rutstein, also known as SONiA Disappear Fear is being hosted by the Wauchope Community Arts Council at the hall in Oxley Lane beside Bain Park from 8pm to 10.30pm on Saturday, January 11.
The Gay and Lesbian American Anti-Defamation award winner has previously performed at the Concert for Peace at the Lincoln Memorial in 2003, the March on Washington for LGBTQI rights and bomb shelters in Jerusalem.
Rutstein said her voice is somewhere between Patti Smith and Perry Como and her guitar style a mix of Gypsy Kings and Richie Havens flavours.
She has started the year in earnest with a solo recording, the Composer's Cut of her first musical Small House No Secrets. After releasing her 19th CD in January last year entitled By My Silence.
Rutstein has written songs in Spanish, Hebrew, Arabic, German and in multiple genres from blues to middle eastern to country and folk.
SONiA is a world class composer and artist. She is the recipient of the Coin Of Honor from a joint coalition of United States military for her humanitarian efforts. She has received the GLAMA (Gay and Lesbian Music Awards) for Female Artist of the year.
She has recently shared the stage with some of her heroes including Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger,and Chris Thiele.
SONiA's proudest moments were singing with Peter, Paul and Mary at the Lincoln Memorial in 2002 and in 2012 receiving the Coin of Honor from the United States Army for her humanitarian songs while on tour in Mackenbach, Germany.
SONiA disappear fear has gained a devoted fan base in more than 20 countries performing her songs that range in the styles of Rock, Folk, Country, Latin, blues and Reggae.
