SNAUR is about the adventures of Zac, Josh and a very cheeky dog Ned who one day discovers a magical dragon called Snaur in a cave. Snaur becomes part of their family.
When Mrs Symons first had the idea for SNAUR she took it to a writing group at U3A.
The reaction was instant.
"They loved the characters and how they interact," she said.
"One member, Kate said, 'If you don't publish this it will be a travesty,' and so I did."
Mrs Symons hopes to encourage children to use their imagination through her books.
"Imagination is the most wonderful thing we have in this world," she said.
"I have a philosophy that we all have within us an ability to get our imagination going and that it will serve us if we listen to our inner voice.
"It will serve us in how we live our life, how we treat other people and how we interact."
Mrs Symons is yet to release book two and three in the SNAUR series.
Dale Symons will be speaking at Wauchope Library at 10am on Thursday, January 9.
