Blake James Studders, 23, of Lindfield Park Road, appeared before Magistrate Jennifer Price on December 18, 2019.
He remains on bail.
His current bail conditions include surrendering his passport, not to actively communicate directly or indirectly with any person under 16 years of age other than immediate family members.
Charges against Studders have also been changed.
The original charge of using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication with a person under 16 years of age has been withdrawn and replaced with a charge of, using a carriage service to groom a person under the age of 16 years.
The charge relates to incidents that allegedly occurred between March and April 2019.
Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.
Regular covert online investigations are conducted by the CEIU; and police in NSW work closely with their law-enforcement colleagues interstate and overseas.
The case against Studders is next listed for the Port Macquarie Local Court on March 5, 2020.
