The blaze erupted at about 8am on Sunday, December 29 at a residence in Marowin Place.
Two fire units from Wauchope were assisted by another two from Port Macquarie Fire and Rescue to bring the blaze under control.
They had support from NSW Police, Ambulance NSW while Rural Fire Brigade units from Sancrox and Lake Innes were on standby. Additional water tankers were brought in by Laurieton and Lake Cathie RFS units.
The Port Macquarie HAZMAT unit was also called in to assist.
Onlooker Chris Rogan said the emergency services had the situation under control very quickly but the internal structure was still burning intensely until the fire was fully managed by 10am.
"The fire looked to have started in the double garage or kitchen area of the home and spread via the roof space to the main, larger part of the house," Mr Rogan said.
Essential Energy responded and disconnected power to the property.
The home was gutted with the main roof collapsing.
Fire crews managed to protect other properties in the street.
