This group of amazing people, who came together with one common goal, are proof of that.
On Saturday, December 14, the final convoy of kindness left Port Macquarie bound for Tamworth - 12 pallets of donations from the Port Macquarie-Hastings community for farming families doing it tough.
In three months the Doing It For Our Farmers campaign has been able to spread the love far and wide, supporting farmers in Wingham, Hannam Vale, Taree, Old Bar, Kempsey, Birdwood, Rollands Plains, Willawarrin and Long Flat.
The campaign even stepped up its intensity when drought relief expanded into emergency fire support.
Port Macquarie's campaign coordinators Robyn Rawson and Luis Baker originally championed the cause after seeing the devastation of drought during an inland holiday.
They said the greatest reward now is spreading awareness about the severity of the drought and how dire the situation is for our farmers.
"So many people here in Port Macquarie just didn't know how bad it is. Through that awareness we've been able to get our farmers the help they need," Robyn said.
"And we've received hundreds of thank you messages in return. That's what it's all about. We do live in a great community."
Doing It For Our Farmers founder Sue Ellen Wilkin in Tamworth said the DIFOF had made a difference through wonderful donations and selfless acts by volunteers.
"This drought has a life all its own, whipping up dust storms, fire storms and breaking the hearts of so many. I encourage all our members to keep our farmers in mind as we go about our daily life enjoying the bounty our farmers provide," she said.
"Team DIFOF will continue to help your farmers as we have done in the past and will do well into the future. Until this rotten drought breaks, please keep supporting Robyn and our team till we get this job done."
