The competition was originally set down to kick off on April 18 and 19.
However, the decision was made when dates for the Country Rugby League Championships were released.
Group Three chief executive Mal Drury said the representative season would have impacted heavily on the Group Three competition had it started on April 18 and 19.
The original group draw was made before the representative program was finalised.
Mr Drury said under the original plan the competition would have started on April 18 and 19 and then had a break the next week because of Anzac Day which falls on the Saturday.
"Now we'll kick off on May 2 and 3. Our grand final will go back to Sunday September 13,'' he said.
Meanwhile selectors have named a train-on squad of 35 for the North Coast Bulldogs women's side to contest next year's Country Championships.
This follows the conclusion of the Group Three/Hastings League nines competition last week.
Glen Bampton will coach the North Coast team.
He took the side to the Country Championship final this season. Next year's women's Group Three All Stars/Indigenous All Stars women's game will be rugby league and not league tag, it has been further decided.
