Anna Gleeson capped off a remarkable year as Port Macquarie claimed their first senior mixed NSW State Cup title in nearly two decades with an emphatic 8-5 victory over Newcastle City on Sunday.
The three-try success capped off an undefeated weekend where the Makos sailed through with 10-straight wins.
But the subplot to their first win in the senior mixed division since claiming back-to-back trophies in 2000 and 2001 was with Gleeson.
It's a year where she has done it all - from coaching Port Macquarie's under-10 girls to a northern conference title to playing and starring at the World Cup for Australia.
That's not to mention being awarded as the 2018/2019 Touch Football NSW senior player of the year.
Throw in a State of Origin series win with NSW and the only item left to tick off was a NSW State Cup trophy following five runner-up medals over the years.
"It's just the best; what the year has brought has been mindblowing," Gleeson said.
"It's one thing I've always wanted so badly and to do it with this team - my touch family - we've been mates for so long.
"To win it with these guys means the world."
Gleeson said her achievements this year had all been different so it was difficult to compare which one meant the most.
"This is really different ... to play for your country is next level, but to play with this group of people (and win a State Cup) I'm in tears, it's the best," she said.
"I couldn't have asked for a better ending to the year."
Makos captain Chris Green said they overcame a scare against Eastern Suburbs in the semi-final when they trailed 2-0 early before they snuck into the grand final with a 3-2 win.
"I think it was just old legs running around all weekend and getting the better of us," he said.
Their fitness level stood up to the rigours of playing 10 matches in three days.
"It's just a lot of hard work; we trained twice a week and everyone worked for each other," he said.
"It was a great weekend by all and you couldn't find a better bunch of legends to play with."
