A 28-year-old man who allegedly escaped custody during a visit to Port Macquarie Base Hospital has been refused bail.

Matthew Furner of Aldavilla Road, Aldavilla, fronted the Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday December 5.
Furner appeared before Magistrate Jennifer Price and bail was formally refused.
He is yet to enter any pleas to a range of charges.
Furner is alleged to have escaped from custody on August 25, 2019. He was attending the hospital under the supervision of corrections officers.
Furner has been charged with, escaping lawful custody, assaulting an officer and common assault, stealing a car, two counts of larceny, entering lands, driving dangerously during a police pursuit, driving recklessly or dangerously, driving while disqualified and with false number plates.
Magistrate Price adjourned the case to the Port Macquarie Local Court on February 20, 2020.
