Blues halves Maddie Studdon and Kirra Dibb will headline a cast of current or former top-line players set to take the field at this year's event.

Dibb (Central Coast women's open A) and Studdon (Easts Roosters women's open A) will look to keep their off-season fitness levels up alongside Caitlin Moran (Beresfield mixed open's) who continues her return from a torn ACL.

Former NRL players such as Joel Caine (Cronulla men's 40s), Daniel Fitzhenry (Newcastle men's 40s), Cliff Lyons (Manly men's 55s), Steve Menzies, Gene Ngamu (both Manly men's 40s), Trevor Cogger (Carlingford men's 50s) and Rod Silva (Wests Magpies men's 50s) will also make an appearance.

Silva's daughter, Keely, will hope Canterbury's women's championship side can replicate their success from 2018 when they start their campaign on Friday morning.

NSWTA general manager Dean Russell said having NRLW stars make the trek to Port Macquarie was a further insight into the strengthening partnership between the NRL and Touch Football NSW.

It comes as a result of the Touch Premiership.

"It's fantastic with this partnership we have with the NRL that they don't mind the girls playing touch football in their off-season," Russell said.

"All three of the girls came through the ranks playing touch; Caitlin was a gun player and Kirra represented her state and at (Combined High Schools) CHS level."

An exhibition match in the future featuring National Rugby League players was unlikely due to pre-season training schedules of each NRL club, but Russell said it was "definitely" a concept worth pursuing.

"We've certainly entertained the idea of going to the clubs and asking them about having their own division in future years," he said.

"It would certainly be interesting to see how an NRL touch football team would go, but I've always said you never say never."
