After a two-month trip in Nashville Tennessee, writing with hit songwriters who took Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney and Dolly Parton to #1 as well as supporting US country star Kris Kristofferson, Angus will play his first Aussie show right in his hometown with special appearances from Russell Dick.
Wauchope singer/songwriter Angus Gill It rounds off a very exciting year for Angus, who received a Golden Guitar nomination for the Traditional Country Album of the Year for his new album Welcome To My Heart.
"I am truly grateful to receive a Golden Guitar nomination, I've put a melange of blood, sweat and ears into making Welcome To My Heart and I'm very proud that this album I produced is in the company of the sublime artists and albums in this category," he said.
Over the past five weeks Gill has been writing in Nashville with some of Music Row's most esteemed writers including Grammy award winner Jim Lauderdale, Phil Vassar, Jeffrey Steele, Charles Esten, David Lee Murphy and many others.
Ticking off perhaps the biggest item on his list, Gill made his debut on the Grand Ole Opry at the Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium. He joined Nashville TV Star Charles Esten to sing their co-written song Feet of Clay to the Opry audience, live on WSM Radio. It was a huge honour for Gill, making him one of the youngest Australian artists to debut on the Grand Ole Opry.
Gill also opened for US Country Superstar Kris Kristofferson in September 2019, shortly after launching Welcome To My Heart, which shot to #2 on the ARIA Charts. Country Update Magazine's Gareth Hipwell said, "Welcome to My Heart is the work of a young songsmith already at the peak of his formidable powers. Engrossingly personal and finely crafted"
Publican, Alistair Flower said they were really proud to host Angus back in his hometown, launching his latest album.
"It's important to us that we support live music, as events like these is just what Wauchope needs to keep everyone in the community closer to home."
Amongst the excitement of the album launch, both Angus and the Hastings Hotel have also decided to dedicate the night as a fire relief in response to the recent tragic events. A gold coin donation upon entry will go towards the NSW Rural Fire Service alongside other donation opportunities on the night.
"Right now, I think this is just what the town needs. One of the best parts about living regionally is how much the community comes together in tough times to support one another. It will be a great evening to have a good time whilst we raise much needed funds for the NSW Rural Fire Service," said Mr Flower.
The Angus Gill Album Launch and Fire Relief Event will be on the Friday December 6 from 7pm at the Hastings Hotel in Wauchope. Find out more information on the Hastings Hotel Facebook Page.
