Over the last few years the eco-warrior who began collecting fishing line around the waterways near her home, has sky-rocketed to stardom travelling around the globe talking about her love of marine life and their struggles surviving in a polluted ocean.
Her crusade to share her message about ridding the ocean of plastic reached new heights after getting the phone call back in July to speak at TEDx Newtown.
"When we got the phone call all I did was scream," Shalise said.
"It was such an honour and a dream of mine to maybe one day speak at a TEDx event but I honestly didn't think it would happen until I was much older."
Shalise has been sharing her message with school students for a number of years, spoke at the 2019 Luminosity Youth Summit and keeps a large online following updated on what she is doing via Instagram and Facebook but said TEDx was a whole new level.
"TEDx was just sharing my message on a whole new level," she said.
"The people that get up on that red circle and talk are absolutely incredible and amazing in their different areas and then there was me.
"They called me the baby speaker but it was such an honour to be there. I learned so much about public speaking and I was so inspired by everyone who was there.
"Talking to all the speakers and the crew was just an incredible experience."
Shalise said in the lead up to TEDx it was a whirlwind of editing her speech but on the day it all came together.
"The process after finding out you are a speaker is pretty intense. We had trips to Sydney to work on the speech and meet everyone and I had to work really hard to memorise everything but it was so worth it.
"After my speech I got off the stage and I couldn't remember anything but I am so glad it all went well."
And as if TEDx Newtown was not enough for the environmentalist while in Sydney Shalise also attended the Green Globe Awards taking home the Young Sustainability Champion award.
"The Green Globe Awards are a pretty big deal and I am so honoured to have won the Young Sustainability Champion award.
"Helping the environment is my biggest passion in life and I don't do anything for awards but it was so lovely to get this award."
What is next for Shalise? Well the world is her oyster and she has no plans to slow down.
"I am going to take it easy for the next few weeks and over Christmas but I am heading to the Gold Coast in February to talk at a five day ocean conference which is really exciting.
"I am so passionate about helping our marine animals and protecting our oceans so I plan to continue to spread that message and hopefully we can all make a difference in the world.
"Because everyone can do something small to help our oceans and if we all come together good things will happen."
