District officer Stuart Robb said people might not be aware that there are 30 brigades across the Port Macquarie area.

The NSW RFS has received a number of large donations since the fire crisis unfolded.

"We're very appreciative of the community's generosity we've received over the past few weeks," he said.

Mr Robb said he wants to raise awareness about the substantial number of brigades across the Port Macquarie-Hastings area, who have worked tirelessly over the last seven weeks in a number of locations.

Both large and small brigades, some located in remote and rural locations, played a vital role.

Brigades including Comboyne, Bonny Hills, Telegraph Point, Rollands Plains and Hannam Vale joined with larger units in the area.

King Creek Rural Fire Brigade and Comboyne Rural Fire Brigade will be at the Christmas Parade on Thursday, November 28 with buckets for fundraising.

Mr Robb said a small donation can make all the difference for some brigades, which are located in rural or remote areas.

In the lead up to Christmas, Mr Robb said all firefighters have put rain on their Santa wish list.

Predicted rain is not expected to fall until at least January.

Mr Robb said that means firefighters still have a tough five weeks ahead of them.

He said if you ask any firefighter they'd prefer to be spending Christmas lunch with their families, over fighting fires.

Mr Robb is asking community members to donate to the district's account, with advice on which brigade they would like the funding distributed to.

The NSW RFS district is working with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to set up an account over the coming days.
