Port Macquarie Airport, in partnership with Charles Sturt University, invited creative arts students to enter a Design an Airport Billboard competition.
Gabie Chan and Emelia Chant were joint competition winners with their design.
The billboard was required to promote the Port Macquarie Airport as connecting the community by offering comfortable, customer-focused, safe and convenient services.
Miss Chan said it was just fantastic to see the design come from a small scale to being up on a billboard.
"I think the biggest thing for us is we wanted to keep all our business local," she said about the billboard.
Miss Chan said flying from Port Macquarie Airport was a convenient and easy option.
The billboard will be displayed at the airport, on the Gordon Street electronic billboard and on Hastings River Drive.
Miss Chant said the billboard design was one of their biggest works.
"It's pretty crazy to see our work so big and displayed for everyone to see," she said.
Miss Chant said they really hoped the billboard helped bring more people to Port Macquarie and Port Macquarie Airport.
The winning students receive accommodation and flights for two to Brisbane.
Mayor Peta Pinson presented Miss Chant and Miss Chan with certificates on Thursday, November 28.
"I think the fact Port Macquarie is so significantly identified on the east coast of Australia shows we are a destination of importance," Cr Pinson said.
"I love the message that your journey matters wherever you travel from Port Macquarie but also the Port Macquarie journey matters too with the expansion of the airport [terminal building]."
The $10.175 million project doubled the terminal building's floor area.
