The Port Macquarie Sailing Club held the Ted Kuhn Cup on Sunday, November 17, a two-race regatta in memory of club stalwart Ted Kuhn.

The day started with a light east north-easterly breeze and a good run in tide for the morning race.
After a barbecue lunch the course was extended and well into the last lap a strong southerly blew in with gusts of up to 50kph, flattening a number of boats and sending the later sailors in the course home to the club house.
The rescue boat was kept busy bringing in struggling sailors in the dangerous conditions.
Frank O'Rourke on Dino won the morning race for catamarans on yardstick followed by Jack Corthals on Harpic, Tony Kuhn on Stella was third followed by Rob Barwick on Drift and Dave Winter on Spica.
The junior morning race was won by Elsa Gandy and Isla Smith in Sailfish followed by Charlie and Lara Nosworthy in Temeraire. Bridgette Taylor and Jamie Newton in Dorado did not finish.
The morning race for monohulls was won on yardstick by Rohan and Aiden Nosworthy followed by Roger Shipton in Zazoo, narrowly beating Jeff Walsh in Firefly.
They were followed by Joe and Ruby Newton in Voyager, Martina Holt in Spellbound, Simon Gandy & Jamie Newton in Dorado, Stuart Symons and Geoff Smith in Elmo, Steve Couch in Lazybuoy, Steve Bohlsen and Ed Molony in Interceptor, Jane Cooper in Impetuous and Baerin Houghton in Rainbow.
The afternoon race for catamarans was won by Frank O'Rourke on Dino. Drift, Stella and Spica all did not finish due to conditions.
The afternoon junior race was won by Jamie Newton and Simon Gandy in Dorado followed by Elsa Gandy and Bridgette Taylor in Sailfish. Charlie and Lara Nosworthy in Temeraire did not finish.
Zazoo also won the afternoon race for monohulls on yardstick, followed by Voyager, Firefly, Elmo and Interceptor. The remaining field of Impetuous, Spellbound, Flying Fish, A Power and Lazybuoy all did not finish due to conditions.
The series results for catamarans saw Dino take the win then Stella and Harpic tie for second followed by Drift and Spica.
The junior series was won by Sailfish then Dorado, Temeraire and then Flying Fish.
In the monohulls, Zazoo took the win followed by Firefly, Voyager, Elmo, A Power, Interceptor, Spellbound, Lazybuoy, Flying Fish (Simon Gandy), Impetuous, Flying Fish (Baerin Houghton) and Rainbow.
This Sunday, November 24, is race of the handicap start series with a 1.30pm start for the first boats. Simon Gandy is rostered on duty.
